A new work for SINFONIETTA will be premiered on March 19th at 8:00pm in Eastman's Kilbourn Hall. The program will also include works by Andrew McManus and Symeon Waseen. The concert has been organized by the Graduate Student Composers Association at Eastman.
A performance of INERTIA in Louisville, Kentucky is tentatively scheduled for March of 2009. The performers will be Kevin and Liz Ames.
John's Masters Recital will be on February 27th at 7:00 pm at Eastman in room 120. The complete program will be announced soon.
On December 11th, 2008, the Ossia New Music Ensemble will premiere ...OF FOURE-FOOTED BEASTES scored for tenor and percussion ensemble. Scott Perkins will be the tenor soloist. The work is based on the writings of 16th Century clergyman Edward Topsell, and features texts from a variety of sources. John will also give a preconcert lecture about Topsell's writing and its relationship to the work. The conert is part of Ossia's third concert of its 2008-2009 season. On Novemeber 24th INERTIA for alto saxophone and piano will be premiered as part one of Eastman's Composers' Forums. The performance is scheduled for 7:00pm and takes place in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School.
The orchestral work COMPANION STAR will be premiered in concert by the Eastman Philharmonia on November 19th at 8:00pm. The concert will take place at the Eastman Theater in Rochester. Oliver Hagen will conduct.
On October 30th, John will give a lecture on his music as part of a composers' symposium at Eastman. He will discuss similarities between the two recent compositions, INERTIA for alto saxophone and piano, and HOUSE-FLY for two pianos. The lecture will include a special "preview" performance of INERTIA. It will take place at 3:30pm in room 209 at Eastman.
Originally scheduled for April 28th, 2008 the second reading of COMPANION STAR will take place on October 20th, 2008. The performing ensemble will be the Eastman Philharmonia.

On October 16th, at 8:00pm, trumpeter Jeremy Maitland will deliver the second performance of CATALYST for trumpet and elecrtronics as part of a concert sponsored by the Eastman Computer Music Center. Also featured on the program will be works by Luigi Nono and special guest composer Ben Thigpen. The event takes place at the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester (corner of Prince and Alexander, across from the Memorial Art Gallery.) It is free and open to the public.
CLICK TRACK will be presented at the SCI National Student Conference on Friday October 10th at Ball State University in Munice, IN.
On, Sunday August 3rd, 2008 at 3:00pm, John will give a PIANO RECITAL at the Seneca Falls Library in Seneca Falls, NY. The program will encompass a wide range of styles and include the premiere of a new work for solo piano. The event is free and open to the public.
On June 29th, 2008, John will be getting married to Jennica Schuster of Auburn, NY at the Williard Chapel in Auburn. The couple is planning a July trip to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
Trumpeter Jeremy Matiland will premiere CATALYST for solo trumpet and interactive electronics at the Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar in New Hampshire. The performance is scheduled for June 20th, 2008 at 7:30pm.

In his first year as music director, John will lead the choir of the First United Methodist Church of West Webster in their first all CHORAL CONCERT on June 18th, 2008 at 7:00pm. The program will feature a selection of classic Methodist hymns, spirituals, anthems, and several original arrangements. FUMC of West Webster is located at 570 Ridge Road in Webster, NY.
On April 28th, John was awarded the Wayne Brewster Barlow Prize for excellence in composition by the Eastman composition faculty.
A new work, HOUSE-FLY, for two pianos will receive its premiere on April 7th at 8:00pm in Eastman's Kilbourn Hall with pianists Symeon Waseen and Marcus Macauley. The concert, which is funded by the Warren Benson Forum on Creativity, features works inpsired by sculptor Arthur Ganson. Other composers featured on this event will include Andrew Colella, Andrew Allen, Hiroyuki Sakurai, Feng-Hsu Lee, Chad Latta, Jennifer Bellor, Symeon Waseen, Paul Coleman, and Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez. The works will be preceded by a pre-concert panel discussion with Mr. Ganson and the featured composers.
Along with composers Eugene Astapov, and Oliver Hagen, John will be presenting a recital of contemporary chamber music at 6:30pm on April 3rd in Eastman's Ciminelli Formal Lounge. The concert will include the premiere of CHIMERA by violist Leanne Dammann and cellist Meredith Blecha, and John will perform the premeire of PRESSED TO THE GLASS with soprano Ke Chen. Also featured will be an encore "performance" of CLICK TRACK.
CLICK TRACK received its premiere on March 7th, 2008 at the Bethel Christian Fellowship in Rochester. The work was part of the first of a series of three electro-acoustic concerts presented by the Eastman Computer Music Center in the spring of 2008. John's orchestra piece COMPANION STAR was read on March 5th, 2008 by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra during the anual BPO Young Composers' Forum. The work will be read again by the Eastman Philharmonia on April 28th
